These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the tetherperinatal.com website and the tetherApp suite — Peri, Pulse, and Loop-In — operated by Tether Perinatal LLC ("Tether," "we," "us"). By creating an account, using the services, or subscribing to our SMS program, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
1. Who We Are & What Tether Is Not
Tether is a perinatal mental-health platform. Peri is an AI companion; Pulse is a mood-tracking and routing tool; Loop-In coordinates your chosen support circle, including by sending SMS on your behalf.
tetherApp is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and Peri is not a licensed clinician. Always seek the advice of a qualified provider with any questions about a medical condition. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (U.S.) or call 911. Tether is not currently a HIPAA-covered entity — see our Privacy Policy for our HIPAA roadmap.
2. Eligibility & Accounts
- You must be 18 or older to create an account.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for safeguarding your credentials.
- You may not share your account or use Tether on behalf of another adult without their consent.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use Tether for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
- Add a phone number to Loop-In that you do not have authority to contact, or use Loop-In to send harassing, deceptive, or unsolicited promotional messages.
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the operation of the services.
- Submit content that infringes others' rights, contains malware, or is intended to harm the platform or other users.
- Misrepresent yourself or impersonate another person, clinician, or organization.
4. tetherApp SMS Program — Required Terms
The following terms apply to all SMS messages sent through Tether, including Loop-In support requests, crisis loop-in alerts (where enabled), and Tether account / reminder texts. These terms are required by U.S. carriers (CTIA) and apply alongside our Privacy Policy.
Program name
Tether — Loop-In & Account Alerts, operated by Tether Perinatal LLC.
Program description
When an account holder uses Loop-In, Tether sends SMS on the account holder's behalf to the phone numbers they have added to their support circle. With separate opt-in, Tether also sends transactional alerts (check-in nudges, screener reminders, sign-in codes, and — if enabled — crisis loop-in messages to a pre-selected support contact).
How to opt in
Account holders opt in during onboarding or when configuring Loop-In, by submitting their mobile number and explicitly agreeing to receive texts from Tether. Support-circle members are added by the account holder; before any non-essential messages are sent, recipients receive a confirmation text and must reply Y (or remain opted in implicitly per program) and may reply STOP to opt out at any time. Consent to these Terms does not by itself enroll you in SMS.
Message frequency
Message frequency varies based on circle activity and the programs you enable. A typical user receives 0–10 messages per week.
Cost
Message and data rates may apply. Tether does not charge for the SMS program itself, but your mobile carrier may.
HELP
Reply HELP to any Tether message for assistance, or email support@tetherperinatal.com. We will reply with program information and contact details.
STOP / opt-out
Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe. Other accepted opt-out keywords include END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, and QUIT. We will send one confirmation text and no further messages from that program.
Supported carriers & delivery
The Tether SMS program is supported on major U.S. carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, Boost, U.S. Cellular, MetroPCS, and Cricket Wireless. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Privacy
See our Privacy Policy. We do not sell or rent mobile numbers or opt-in data, and we do not share them with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
5. AI Companion (Peri) Specific Terms
- Peri's responses are generated by AI and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. Use your own judgment and consult a qualified clinician.
- Do not use Peri to share information about third parties without their consent, and do not submit content you would not be comfortable storing on a consumer wellness platform.
- Peri is configured to surface crisis resources when it detects acute risk language. This is a safety feature, not a substitute for emergency services.
5a. Mental-Health Crisis Protocol & Liability
Peri, Pulse, and Loop-In each include automated scanners that look for language suggesting a mental-health crisis — including worsening depression, self-harm ideation, thoughts of harming a baby or child, severe postpartum OCD (unwanted intrusive thoughts), and postpartum psychosis (hallucinations, fixed delusions, extreme insomnia, racing thoughts, or grossly disorganized behavior). When a scanner flags a message, the product will surface a short safety assessment, a pre-drafted SMS you can send to a support person, a one-tap link to call 911, and links to 988 and Postpartum Support International (1-800-944-4773).
tetherApp is not a medical device, is not a substitute for a licensed clinician, and bears no responsibility or liability for any health decisions, outcomes, injuries, or damages arising from your use of — or reliance on — Peri, Pulse, Loop-In, or any other part of the platform. The scanners are heuristics; they will miss some crises and will flag some non-crises. You are responsible for seeking in-person emergency care when you or your baby are in danger, and for consulting a qualified perinatal mental-health clinician for diagnosis and treatment of any condition, including postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and psychosis. In an immediate emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department.
This section also governs any pre-drafted SMS content the app suggests. You choose which contacts (if any) to send it to, and you are responsible for the accuracy of the contents and the phone numbers you have on file.
6. Loop-In Specific Terms
- You are responsible for the phone numbers and email addresses you add to your support circle and for having permission to contact those people.
- Loop-In is intended for personal coordination of care among friends and family. It is not a marketing or promotional channel.
- If a support-circle member opts out, Tether will block further SMS to that number from your account.
7. Subscriptions, Payments & Refunds
Some Tether features may be offered as paid subscriptions. Pricing, billing cadence, and refund terms will be disclosed at checkout. You may cancel a subscription at any time; cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period unless otherwise stated.
8. Intellectual Property
Tether owns the platform, the software, and the Tether marks. You retain ownership of the content you submit (journal entries, Pulse logs, voice notes, messages). You grant Tether a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, and display that content solely to operate the services for you.
9. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms, for security reasons, or if required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute resolution) will survive.
10. Disclaimers
The services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Tether does not warrant that the services will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any AI output will be accurate. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tether will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly. Tether's aggregate liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the services will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid Tether in the twelve months before the claim or one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Tether harmless from any claim or demand arising out of your use of the services, your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party (including any phone number recipient you added to Loop-In).
13. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. The exclusive venue for any dispute not subject to arbitration will be the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington. Where permitted, the parties waive any right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email. Continued use of the services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
