SMS consent & opt-in
Tetherwell™ (Tetherhealth.io) sends text messages only to people who have explicitly agreed to receive them. This page describes exactly how that consent is collected and how anyone can stop messages.
Who receives messages
Two groups, and no one else. First, account holders who add their own mobile number inside the Tetherwell app. Second, support contacts — a partner, family member, friend, or doula — whom an account holder adds to their support circle and who then confirm consent themselves.
We never text purchased, scraped, or imported lists, and we never share or sell phone numbers.
How a support contact opts in
- An account holder enters the contact's name and mobile number in the app, on a screen that states the contact will be texted a confirmation link and can decline.
- The contact receives one invitation text with a unique confirmation link: “Hi [Name], someone added you as an emergency support contact on Tetherwell. If you're willing to be texted if they're in crisis, tap: [link] Reply STOP to opt out anytime.”
- The link opens a consent page naming the person who added them, what messages they will receive, message frequency, and that message and data rates may apply. Consent is recorded only when the contact taps “I agree to receive these texts”.
- If the contact takes no action, or taps “No thanks”, they receive no further messages.

These are the live screens described above, captured from the Tetherwell app and this site.

What the messages say
- Opt-in invitation: “Hi Maria, someone added you as an emergency support contact on Tetherwell. If you're willing to be texted if they're in crisis, tap: https://tetherhealth.io/consent/… Reply STOP to opt out anytime.”
- Support alert: “URGENT: Jordan used Tetherwell to reach out — they're going through a hard moment and asked to loop you in. Please call or text them if you can. If they're in immediate danger, call 911 or 988.”
- Reminder: “Hi Maria, this is a reminder to confirm you're willing to be texted in a crisis on Tetherwell: https://tetherhealth.io/consent/…”
Frequency, cost, and stopping messages
Message frequency varies and is driven by the account holder — most contacts receive only the single opt-in text unless a support alert is sent. Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to any message to stop all future texts immediately. Reply START to resume. Reply HELP for help, or email ash@tetherhealth.io. Account holders can also remove a contact at any time, which stops all messages to that number.
